We were sad to have our last performance ofThe Three Bears tonight. As usual, however, the performance went spectacularly and we are very proud of the work we did. This cast – Kathleen Marsh*, Kevin Bohl, Chantal Gagnon and Gabrielle Etzel – showed dedication and talent that was the best we have ever seen with this show, and I am sure that we will re-unite them again soon to take the play somewhere new.
Audience reviews were all excellent. You can read them all on the Fringe Website or In our review section, but here are some of our favorites:
“The “Three Bears” on stage was a brilliant and courageous approach in confronting deep seated issues bubbling out on the surface in the seemingly ordinary picture of a family in its everyday life. The common ocurrances of endless oppisitions appearing in mundane concerns in the household from the simple dinner, christmas, homework, junkfood, and towards the end of the day were a common reality displayed before our eyes. The Writer-Director cleverly unleashed the scenes in simple patterns yet intriguing momentum. The familiarity of the conduct and behavior of mom and dad and (little/older) marie hooked the audience to focus and fasten themselves on their seats as they eagerly caught every word that were flawlessly articulated with mathematical precision. The audience were soared up to heights of curiosity, anticipation and rocked. by sudden random packets of humor. The climatic rupture of intense discourse blasted a shock of ugly truth and shame. To the ideals of raising up a child. The unresolved desires and needs of selves took pre-eminence and perveted the very ideals that brings true meaning of family. Little Marie played by Gabrielle Etzel was the most accurate image that depicted the crucial value of the story. Her tender stature, adorable face, sweet tone of voice and naughty candor hit the deepest impact at the core amidst those thousand words.” – Vivian (Audience Member)
“Three words..BRILLIANT POWERFUL FANTASTIC! this play has edge-of-your-seat intensity. the acting is so great you feel like you are being pulled in to the story. no more stage, no theatre just the dysfunctional family standing in front of you. you will cry and laugh. its not goldilocks, thats for sure, but still, it is DEFINETELY a must-see for everyone too see!!!” – Emma (Audience Member)
